North – on 40th St.

8 Feb

Dad and I had a light supper tonight at North. It was more of a snack really since he had already had dinner with my aunt Char (tamales, courtesy of Jack, courtesy of his customer). We shared a board with salami and prosciutto, some type of white cheese and a blue cheese. On the board also were some spicy cinnamon nuts (mixed) along with a golden raisin relish and roasted (marinated?) peppers and crusty bread. And olives. Yummy. All of this for $15. A steal.

I enjoyed a red wine – Sangiovese and Dad was sipping on a cocktail that he had ordered before I arrived (a gin and tonic?)…when the meal was over we both had a cappuccino and shared a dessert of zeppoli (donut holes) on lemon curd. You must order this. I am planning our next meal already.

As it turns out maybe I won’t have to plan it – just implant the seed? North has a Valentine’s Day menu – see below for the details.

It seems reasonable. And you can sit outside near the heaters and watch the cars pass on 40th Street. Very cosmopolitan.
